Hey dog mom friends!
Y'all know I love sharing my dog mom life with you, and this week has been a hilarious (and sometimes frustrating!) journey training my little stubborn Schnauzer puppy to use a potty bell. 😹
For my OGs, remember how I trained my senior pup to use the door-hanging bells to let me know when he has to go potty? Yeah, that was a hard pass my puppy. She gave me the classic "GIRL BYE" look and refused to even acknowledge them. No way was she about to jump up and hit them. 😒

So, I had to switch things up! Every dog is different ya know? I decided to use the floor potty training bell, the kind she can press with her paw, and we've been working on it all week. And guess what? She's finally getting it! 🎉
I’m glad I got the set that came with the door bells and the floor bell. You can see the dog training tools I use in my list on my Amazon storefront by clicking HERE.
Of course, it wasn't without its challenges. Being a food-motivated pup, we used the paw target method. I hid a treat behind one of her favorite dog toys first and encouraged her to paw the bell to get them. At first, she was totally uninterested. But then, the lightbulb went off: "Paw this thing, get food? Deal!" 😹
I'm so incredibly proud of her progress! It's been a fun and rewarding experience.

I to a bell for my new pup too! I got the doorbell and put on me in the room we were in together and then one by the door. It took her maybe a week to get the hang of it, then I had to show her that ringing it wasn’t to go out to just go out, but to go potty. Now she rings the bell and looks at me with an exasperated expression when I tell her she doesn’t need to go potty because she just did.
She still tries to pull one over on me 😆
